Offsides

I used to coach middle school soccer (mixed boys/girls) and we frequently had offsides called.
I see it a lot in World Cup and Olympics games — they would go to the VAR and draw lines on the TV screen for viewers to see the play.
But hardly any offsides calls in the games this weekend. 200 minutes of play and only THREE OFFSIDES total.
They had VAR but I never saw it used for an offsides.
Is that something about college soccer or women’s soccer?
Are they just better at staying inside or not fast enough to get beyond the defenders?
Any thoughts?
