New commit: G Jaylon Dean-Vines

Post by AuricGoldfinger »

The 6-3 G from Phoenix is Byington's first high school commit. He chose Vanderbilt over Texas A&M, Texas, Louisville, UCF, and West Virginia.

Looks like he has amazing athleticism especially if he really is just 6'-3" (the story below lists him as 6'-3 and 6'-4 in separate paragraphs, so maybe he is growing). He gets waaaay up on some of the slab dunks. My guess is that he probably isn't yet a dead eye shooter or he would have a much higher star rating, but his offers indicate that coaches like his potential.

most of those highlights were against some tough competition, Team Melo and Team Durant have a bunch of top 100 guys

I would imagine CMB is looking for strong defensive minded guys due to the type of high-pressure defense he runs. While we always need scorers, but I bet you will see him focusing on recruiting defenders that can cause points off turnovers. Looks like a great pickup.

My comparisons for comparison purposes ONLY

Jrue Holiday
Kawhi Leonard
Keegan Murray

If he gets a bit taller for those last two that is.
