So far

It seems like with the three transfers CMB has brought in that besides going after familiar players, he has gone for players that are more longer term than 1 season fixes. Collins and Nickel both have two seasons of eligibility remaining while Carey has three seasons remaining. He's gone after players that kind of fit his multiple system, as all three players could fit in at multiple spots.

The main thing is that so far is that the players he's brought in look like overall upgrades of the roster in terms of talent from what we had at the end of the season. That there are a lot of players in the portal is helpful in having a lot of players who can fit what he's looking for, but there are also a very large number of openings at nearly every to program in the country, and the best portal players will have no lack of options of landing spots.

This is as difficult task than we had last season, and at one point last season we had 7 players in the portal and only had Manjon, Smith, Dort, and Lewis remaining from the 2023 team. Massive roster turnover is the new normal, and we can only hope that CMB can get some semblance of roster stability that has been largely missing over the last few seasons.

There is talk about how some guys are waiting on that one last NIL check from their current school before they enter the portal. That and the already mentioned "last days of the Covid exception." This sounds like there is about to be an avalanche of names at the end of this portal entry window that ends two weeks from today. I actually think it's going to be a "buyer's market" for schools at all levels to spend their last few openings and the amount of NIL $$ being demanded will fall dramatically for all but the top of the top players. Just a theory.

CMB has added a 6'-9" center, a 6'-7" wing, a 6'-4" 2 guard and a 6'-4" PG. He's adding positions and trying to fill our a decimated roster. At least with the latest move we can field a team. Whether the guys he brought in end up starting is not clear and it also isn't clear that he is anywhere near done with only 8 scholarship players on the roster by my latest estimate.
