Re: Portal Activity
With all the talented guards UConn has plus the ones coming in as freshmen, it's hard to figure how they could need another one. But, I have to admit they'd be crazy not to take Chen if she wants to come. Also, she played four years for Carla Berube at Princeton, and Berube played for Geno. Rich gettin' richer.

And, she seems almost a perfect fit for coach Ralph's style of play. Quick and aggressive guard who loves defense and can score when needed. Also, she had a Vandy offer at one point, though it was never quite certain if it was from Ralph or coach White. Played high school ball at Montverde Academy in Florida, the same school where Jaloni Cambridge finished her high school career. One to keep an eye on for us? Might be looking for a clear-cut starting role somewhere, though.

Could Vandy be interested? I suppose it's possible, but, oddly enough, we already find ourselves with something of a surplus at the 3-4-5 positions. We already have Sacha Washington, Justine Pissott, Aga Makurat, Ryanne Allen, Jordyn Oliver, 6'4 freshman Aiyana Mitchell and incoming 6'3 Trinity Wilson vying for playing time in the front court. Mitchell, in particular, has shown a lot of promise, but she has had trouble getting onto the court. Makurat, who I still think can be a star, will also need to see more playing time in the future if she is going to develop. Adding another front court player could be problematic, but the coaches have proven very adept with their portal choices, so I wouldn't dare complain regardless of what they do.
