Re: Recruiting Rundown
Leah Macy, class of '25 and ESPN Hoopgurlz #8, told a Kentucky sportswriter she is pretty much down to a top 8 colleges and hopes to make a decision after her Bethlehem High School team finished its state tournament. No clue how soon after.
Macy is widely listed at 6'2 but now claims 6'3. She is and has been for quite a while my favorite class of '25 recruit. She's a superb offensive player and tough rebounder. She has visited Vandy twice that we know of, but she has also visited any number of other schools, some more than once. I've always said I feel confident we will make any finalist list she releases. The competition to sign her is fierce, and a visit to UConn in January doesn't lift my confidence.
If you have any pull with the basketball gods, now would be a good time to use it.
Here is a portion of the recent article:
2025 Leah Macy expected to make her college decision soon:
When the Herald-Leader caught up with Macy in late January during the All “A” Classic in Corbin, the five-star prospect spoke highly of UConn, where she had taken an “amazing” visit over the New Year’s holiday. She also mentioned she was down to about eight schools.
...
When asked for an update on her recruitment after the Banshees’ victory over Pikeville on Thursday, Macy said she hopes to make her college choice sometime after her team’s state championship run. “I haven’t made any final decision yet, but hopefully here soon,” Macy said.
A few highlights from a recent tournament game:

Updating to remove Raina Tomasicka of Latvia from the known/possible interest list. She has committed to USF. I think she will be a good one, and Vandy showed at least passing interest in her on social media, but I have no indication how serious the interest was. I highly doubt there was an offer.

Re: Recruiting Rundown
Bryn Martin, a 6'1 wing from Springboro, Ohio who picked up a Vandy offer a few weeks back, has now been offered by Virginia Tech. She's class of '25 and plays for West Virginia Thunder in the summer, same team as Vandy target Leah Macy. She's picking up a ton of offers with Stanford and Louisville among the most recent.

Updated to include recent offers to 6'2 Danielle Osho and PG Kya Hurt. Osho is from Georgia and plays in a nationally ranked program, and Hurt plays at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis, Ind. She averaged 11.3 points, 4.1 assists and 2.3 steals in her junior season and shot 48% from the field. Hurt is a member of the National Junior Honor Society. She gives me Madison Greene vibes.

Re: Recruiting Rundown
Added Blanca Quiñónez to the known/possible interest list. She attends the NBA Academy in the U.S. The organization provides training for high school players from outside the country. She is apparently 15 years old and a class of '25 prospect. If so, I assume she'll turn 16 soon as she enters junior year of high school and 18 as she rises to college. She's 6'1 or 6'3, depending where you look.
She is from Ecuador, plays FIBA basketball in Italy and has even played professionally already in Europe. She follows Kevin Demille and Aga Makurat on instagram, and they both follow her. Aga also attended the NBA Academy as did such notables as Aaliyah Edwards and Nika Muhl who went on to star at UConn before being drafted by the WNBA. South Carolina's Kamila Cardoso also attended the Academy. I suspect this young lady will have no shortage of options.

Re: Recruiting Rundown
Removed class of '25 guard Divine Bourrage from the offer list. She released a top-six that does not include Vandy. Never saw an interaction between Vandy and Bourrage, who is ranked #5 on ESPN Hoopgurlz. Surprised to see neither Iowa nor Iowa State made her finalist list since she's an Iowa resident.

Sounds like Daria (Dasha) Biriuk is in Starkville today and apparently tomorrow. I've always felt Vandy has a great shot at landing her if they want her. It's really hard to figure out who the staff is actually pursuing and who is on the back burner. Biriuk is a class of '25 player from Webb School in Bell Buckle by way of Ukraine.

Re: Recruiting Rundown
Updating to remove '25 post player Sami Mancini from the offer list after her commitment to Providence. She's 6'6 and plays high school ball in Iowa. I've said, and still do think, Vandy could have had her if they wanted, but coach Ralph has signed Aiyana Mitchell and Trinity Wilson since making the offer to Mancini two years ago.
