Extremely disappointed in this game and the way we played and coached! Pierre is still very immature by the fouls she commits. She needs to learn the team needs her to be on the floor and quit making unnecessary cheap fouls. Her facial expressions are bothersome to me, like “Oh Well”. I hope she grows up over the summer and learns how to actually play the game to maximize her abilities and the effect she can have on the game. It will help if she has another big in the game to take some pressure from her having to get every rebound.
We were plagued by the same problem we had all year…an inability to find offense outside of Blakes and that’s on CSR. It makes no sense to make someone 5’10” guard a player 6’8”, when this player goes unguarded when we have the ball because she can’t shoot. When we are having difficulty in scoring, Pissott needs to be in the game! She had to play in the overtime and she hit the shot that gave us the only lead since the first quarter. SHE CAN SCORE!!! I don’t believe CSR did a very good job coaching this team, utilizing the players on the roster. When you look back at the year, the best win we had was beating an overrated Alabama team and squeaking by ut on our home court in the last second. We really didn’t scare any of the better teams in the conference and got blown out by UK and Ms on our home floor and Ms on the road. I keep looking for good wins, but it took Herculean efforts by Blakes to beat Auburn and Florida!
CSR is better than anything we have had in the last ten years, but we have a ways to go to improve upon being a mediocre SEC team. Signing some top flight players will be a step in the right direction. Why would highly rated recruits sign with ut knowing they will only be playing in half the game? Why wouldn’t they come to VU and build on our solid foundation and become some of the missing pieces? CSR must show she can attract outstanding players…so far we have one.

We needed Washington all year - would have won seversl more games including the last one.
Re: Looking back on this game and the year
I too have at times questioned CSR player personnel decisions. We hurt for offense more times than not, with Makurat and Pissot mostly resigned to the bench. But I have to add what I have seen others say, I do not see practices as the coach and staff do. They must have seen things that resulted in who played and who didn't. Either we trust our coach or we don't. At this point I trust CSR. Now hit that damn portal hard!
Re: Looking back on this game and the year
Said better than i could. No one would be happier than I to see a Sweet 16 in '26. (I know this goes back before the dinosaurs, and i would NEVER NEVER hold another coach to this standard- we haven't had 1 to even come close.) Jim Foster won 22 games, made the Elite 8 his first season (91-92). No NIL no portal. 2nd season: 30 W, Final 4. Hell, Phil Lee, who was fired, and has been completely forgotten, made the Sweet 16 his last 2 seasons (89-90, 90-91).
Last S16: 08-09. Again, NOT HOLDING ANYONE TO THESE STANDARDS, I just know it can be done here. and i hope it is. Soon.
P.s. I posted that it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect CSR to (NOT win a NC, get to a F4 or E8), but finish in the top 1/2 of the SEC in her 5th season, and had 3 competing fatwas declared against me.
