Vandy Still in the Running for Leah Macy

Post by MikeADore »

This post from a Kentucky sportswriter doesn't present this as a formal finalist list, but it does state she is considering the listed teams. Hopefully, Brooks will leave her alone. As far as I know, he had not offered her at Virginia Tech. Even if these are the only teams she is considering at this point, it's still an uphill battle. Coach Ralph is a good recruiter, though, and Macy seems to like Vandy, so hope springs eternal.

Mike, a source up this way has told me that Macy really likes UConn. Anyway, I've been watching videos of her for her last two years. She's tremendous. I love her game. And when you watch her, she's a coach's dream. She makes eye contact, takes coaching well, hustles on and off the floor. It would be a huge get for Ralph.

Full season highlight package for Macy. I absolutely love this kid. She has been my favorite recruit for nearly two years now, mostly for her motor and her uncanny scoring ability, 67% all over the floor this season. She can also handle the ball full court and is an outstanding passer.

Mikayla Blakes in '24 and Macy in '25 added to an improving Khamil Pierre could truly lift this program. I'm still confident enough to say we should make any finalist list for Macy, but beyond that, I'm not sure. My thinking is Vandy, UConn, Notre Dame and Lousiville would be the true leaders, but that's just a guess. UConn recently added the number-one '24 recruit, Sarah Strong, who plays pretty much the same position as Macy. Not sure how that might affect her decision.

If UK has a good season with their new coach, they may also be in the picture.

She has indicated she plans to make a decision this spring/summer.

Mike, I love Macy too. I'm going to try to see her this summer in AAU. I have watched a lot of stuff on the net about her. Great skills. I see her as a stretch 4 in the SEC. I also think she'll struggle early defensively with the speed and quickness of SEC bigs.

Strong to UConn may influence her decision. I'll keep my ears open. Last I heard was that she's leaning towards UConn.

I can't thank you enough for the information you provide us with her at the site. I can't wait to see my daily dose of VU women's basketball news you provide.

If she goes to UConn, maybe we will get her when she transfers the next year.
